New Classes Forming This Fall!

Acting I: Scenework ( Taught by resident director, Jim Shedd, five weekly 2 hour sessions for ages 14-19) 

Whether you are interested in performance as a career, or looking to act for the first time, this exciting and engaging class is for you!

We take our teen actors seriously at Schaumburg On Stage, we look forward to collaborating on the dynamics of acting and giving you the tools to tackle any scenario in the industry.

We will work on scripts from film, TV and theatre, as well as commercial work, allowing you to make any scene your own. You will be cast in age-appropriate scenes from contemporary theatre.

This is an in-person class where social distancing and best practices will be observed to limit the the spread of Covid-19.  Classes will consist of a 5 person minimum and 8 person maximum.

Class goals include:

  • Building and deepening the basic skills and concepts of acting.
  • Exploration of the actor’s internal (psychological-emotional) resources.
  • Exercises, discussions and performance projects.
  • Analysis, rehearsal and performance of representative scripts.
  • Information about the industry and assistance to perform onstage with confidence.
  • A variety of experience to encourage an understanding and appreciation of the actor’s craft.

This class is designed to be repeated and offers potential for students to graduate to more advanced level classes (to be offered at a later time).

 This class will culminate in a filmed performance for family and friends.

Class time: Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Schaumburg On Stage studios at 1925 Wright Blvd. beginning on Oct 6th.
